It’s Official: Specialty Jewelers’ Sales Crashed This Holiday Season

According figures released today by the US Census Bureau, American specialty jewelry stores generated $8.87 billion in holiday sales this past November-December Holiday Season, a 4.7% decline compared to the 2013 Holiday Season.

For the entire year, sales by specialty jewelry retailers totaled $33.61 billion, a 1.1% increase over 2013.

The figures are preliminary. The Census Bureau typically revises them a month later, however during the past year, these revisions usually indicated that sales were worse than initially reported.
